Elia is a policy officer and project leader of the Sustainable Finance project within the Unit for Sustainable Finance at DG FISMA (Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union). She has been working on the European Commission’s sustainable finance initiative since its inception at the end of 2016.
She is currently working on the Commission’s Renewed Sustainable Finance Strategy and oversees the implementation of the 2018 Sustainable Finance Action Plan.
Previously, she led the negotiations on the taxonomy regulation in the Commission, coordinated the work for the Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance, contributed to the Commission’s May legislative package, as well as its Action Plan on ‘Financing Sustainable Growth’, the March 2018 Conference on Sustainable Finance and supported the High-Level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance’s work.
Prior to joining the Commission in 2016, she was based in London where she worked as a consultant for a number of public and private bodies, including Unilever, the UK Department for International Development, and Number 10 Downing Street. Elia holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
